All Zoomers are proud to continue our longstanding support for Naturskyddsföreningen, Sweden’s largest and oldest environmental organisation. Founded in 1909, Naturskyddsföreningen works tirelessly across vital fronts, including biodiversity protection, climate action, sustainable production and consumption, and the conservation of Sweden’s natural environments.
While climate and nature crises remain urgent global challenges, the organisation's latest roundup of "environmental victories in 2025" reveals encouraging signs that collective action truly makes a difference.
These wins were made possible by the dedication of members, volunteers, communities, and partner organisations.
In 2025, Naturskyddsföreningen and its supporters contributed to a wide range of environmental successes at the local, national, and global levels.
We achieved several significant policy and governance milestones. The UN Global Ocean Treaty entered into force, enabling the protection of marine ecosystems on the high seas, while the WTO agreement on harmful fisheries subsidies became legally binding. Within the EU, new producer responsibility rules for textiles and footwear marked a significant step toward a circular economy.
In Sweden, nature and biodiversity protection efforts advanced through the designation of new nature reserves, stronger protection of coastal waters, and improved forestry practices that favoured biodiversity over clear-cutting. Wetland restoration projects and nationwide biodiversity initiatives also helped restore and protect valuable ecosystems.
Major actors made significant progress in finance and business responsibility, reducing their exposure to fossil fuels and excluding oil companies from their portfolios. Long-term international cooperation helped Kenya eliminate highly dangerous pesticides, making farming safer and more sustainable.
Together, these achievements demonstrate how sustained advocacy, public engagement, and cross-sector cooperation can deliver meaningful environmental progress, even in challenging times.
Why this partnership matters.
