This year, we're continuing our support for Naturskyddsföreningen – the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
Preventing the worst effects of climate change is essential, but so is boosting biodiversity, supporting sustainable agriculture and preserving fragile ecosystems. Naturskyddsföreningen works tirelessly with all these things, organising members and pressuring decision-makers to act more sustainably.
Here's just a few examples of the environmental victories Naturskyddsföreningen won during 2023, with the help of the people and companies that support them:
- Over 10,000 people took part in clothes-swap day in April 2023, with 40,000 pieces of clothing finding a new home – saving 50,500 m³ of water that would have been consumed if these clothes were bought new.
- Local and regional groups worked in projects to restore 30 hectares of wetlands across Sweden – equivalent to the area of 60 football pitches.
- Naturskyddsföreningen worked with other groups to establish a new 40 km² nature reserve in Jokkmokk, in Swedish Lapland.
