This week marks a milestone in Zooma's history—the official move to a new office. As the new impressions settle, more fun things are happening around the office. Read about the highlights from the move, camera shooting, and the latest phase in the e-commerce project.
Great news! Zooma has officially moved to a new office.
This Tuesday, (most) Zoomers met outside the new office and went in together to get the grand tour from lovely Elisabet, who was responsible for the move. Everyone was delighted by the new space and its interior design. It's a turn-of-the-century space with high ceilings, stucco details, crown mouldings, and stone fireplaces—even though the last office was nice, too, this was an upgrade. It has a cosy, homie feel, and as a colleague described it, 'It feels like I'm in a fancy Paris office.'
Later in the day, there was an intimate internal celebration, but in April, Zooma is having the official grand house-warming party. I heard there will be entertainment from Zooma's own talents, which is very exciting.
On the first day at the new office, I also had a fun little project with my mentor, Niyat, and Kang, Zooma's Experience architect. Kang is starting up a project called 'The Secret Tech Club,' for which we filmed a short intro video, with me as the camerawoman. We had so much fun recording, and secret talents around the office arose.
Kang prepared a script, a simple blueprint for the shots, and a layout, and it turned out better than I thought. We got many bloopers, and the first edit is very humorous. Stay tuned for professional insights in tech.
I also entered a new phase in the e-com site project his week. I have been creating 'product' images, which I realised takes a lot more time than I thought, and now I'm moving into some technical parts of the development. I have started working on the start-page and researching how to add functions that don't exist in the default Shopify theme. I have said it before, but ChatGPT is great for simple coding. Usually, you can just copy and paste it into Shopify's CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). I don't have any coding experience, but it couldn't be easier!
I also had a session with Sheila, one of Zooma's project managers, whom I've also written about before, for advice on project management. I needed guidance on what to do before launching a website, and the meeting resulted in a long to-do list, which was very helpful. There is a lot to consider, and it's crucial to ensure all functions are working, image sizes are correct, links are directed to the right page, etc.
With little time left on the project, we've had to do much planning to create a structure that allows us to finish in time. While working on the project, a few challenges and obstacles appeared, but each new challenge presented an opportunity to refine and improve. With focus and determination, I have no doubt that we'll be done in time.
Have a lovely weekend!
