Five years ago I posted a thought about when I will be amazed by a new device again. This thought was based on that I was one of the first individuals in Sweden that owned an iPhone, and that people were amazed and fascinated about it. When I bought my first Kindle and my first iPad, some people reacted similarly. But when will we be amazed by a new device again? I am so prepared!
The first day of owning my iPhone, I waited for a friend outside a retail store. I picked it up, and after about a minute, twenty people had gathered around me. None of them had ever seen an iPhone before.
Kindle is still fairly uncommon in Europe, and when I sit on a flight or in a hotel reception people still ask what it is, and everyone understands the advantages when they realise that you can use it in the sunlight and carry it in a pocket inside your jacket.
And when people visit me at home and see how my family uses Alexa, they are impressed and interested in how well Alexa understands, and realise that it makes life at home a bit more convenient.
My question now is, when will I be amazed by a device again? I am ready and prepared! And willing to pay for it!
I am still waiting for our refrigerator to order our food, and for some supplier to make sure that all tables charge my devices!
Perhaps I never will be amazed by a device again, and maybe I will only be impressed by software, proper usage of data and functionalities?
Time will tell!
