It's Black Friday once again at the end of this week, and businesses are expecting yet another record-breaking day of shopping. We want to take a different approach - so we're donating the entire day's profits to charity.
It's fair to say that we don't actually need a lot of the things we buy on Black Friday. But at the same time, more and more people in our cities are living in poverty.
As you can read in the 2021 Poverty Report from Sveriges Stadsmissioner (in Swedish), a growing number of people don't receive the support they're entitled to from state welfare services. For these people, groups like Stadsmissionen and other civil society organisations are vital.
Lots of companies have special offers, discounts, and deals on Black Friday so they can sell as much as possible, but we've decided to donate the day's profit to charity.
The donation will go towards two organisations that are very close to our hearts - Göteborgs Stadsmission and Faktum.
We think this is a much better way of marking the day, and we'd love you to make a donation of your own. You can get more information about our chosen charities and find out how to donate below.
