Save time with multi-language variations in HubSpot

Do you find it challenging to translate and copy text across different tools and platforms manually? In this article, I explore HubSpot's multi-language variations feature, which uses the AI tool Breeze to automate content translation. I will cover how the feature works, its pros and cons, and who can benefit most from it.

Over the past few years, I have translated numerous pieces of content for customers worldwide into various languages using different tools. Some translation tools have been more effective than others, and with the advancement of AI, these tools are continually improving. 

The commonality among most tools is that I always need to tediously copy and paste content back and forth from my documents to the translation tool and then to the page, document, or email I’m translating. I have tested HubSpot’s translation feature and its multi-language variations, and I thought I would share my experience. 

What are multi-language variations in HubSpot?

This is a HubSpot feature that uses HubSpot’s AI Breeze, which is connected with DeepL. It allows you to create different language versions of the same piece of content (such as a website page, blog post, email, or landing page), all linked together under one main version.

So instead of creating a new page for each language, you can manage all the translations in one place, keeping them organised and connected.

How does it work?

I follow these steps:

  • Navigate to your content, for example, the blog
  • Hover over the post you want to translate. 
  • Then click on More and select Create multi-language variation
  • Select a Variation language. 
  • Tick the Translate using the Breeze AI checkbox. 
  • Lastly, click Create and Translate.

Now, I can easily edit the translated content in the content editor, and when I feel it is ready, I can click Publish/Schedule.

 

 

Pros:

  • Saving time.
  • It maintains the design and layout of the original content.
  • The content is SEO optimised for each language by automatically adding hreflang tags to help search engines serve the correct language version. Keep brand consistency in every language.
  • All language versions are grouped under one master page or asset.

Cons:

  • You still need to update each variation manually if the main content changes.
  • AI-generated translations can be quick, but they still require human review for nuance, tone, and industry-specific terms.
  • Currently, there is no built-in glossary or term consistency checker available.

Who is this for?

If your business is looking to go global or expand into one or two new languages, this is for you.
Are you a marketer like me, constantly drowning in content translation tasks? This feature is a timesaver. 

Last words

Overall, this feature was almost too easy to use. Five clicks, and the page was translated and (nearly) ready to be published.
The old process, which involved using other translation tools and adding the content to the page, took me around 1 hour, while this feature took me only 10 minutes.
I asked my colleagues about the quality of the translation, and they thought it was excellent. There were just a few changes in the text.

Is it perfect? No, but it’s imposing. I’m excited to see where HubSpot takes this because it's already making my life so much easier.
